Working together to look after our wai, our people and our future.
Waikato Water Done Well is a shared approach to delivering water services across the Waikato region. It is about collaboration, councils, Iwi and communities working side by side to make sure our drinking water, wastewater and stormwater systems are safe, sustainable and locally led.
At the heart of it all is a simple idea - when we care for our wai, we care for our people and our whenua.
This model meets the Government’s Local Water Done Well requirements, while keeping decision-making close to home. It replaces national-level reform with a local solution built on trust, partnership and shared purpose.
He waka eke noa – we are all in this together.
All water assets remain in public hands and cannot be sold or privatised. Our water, our infrastructure and our decision-making will always stay with our communities.
